Impeached Twice, Trump Aims for Return to Oval Office
Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States and the only president impeached twice, has announced his campaign for a nonconsecutive second presidential term.
Trump, who served from 2017 to 2021, will officially launch his campaign on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, two years after voters rejected him in favor of Joe Biden.
If elected, Trump would become only the second commander-in-chief ever elected to two nonconsecutive terms, after Grover Cleveland served in the late 19th century.
Trump's campaign slogan is "Make America Great Again," the same slogan he used in his successful 2016 campaign.
Trump's announcement comes as the Republican Party faces a pivotal midterm election in 2022, which will determine control of Congress. Trump's involvement in the midterm elections is expected to be significant, as he remains a popular figure among Republican voters.
